Council Member Rubio asked who the emergency radios communicate with; the mayor answered that the radios are programmed to operate on MATCOM dispatch frequencies and to allow secure, multi-channel communications among city assets while preserving interoperability in an emergency. “These are updated radios that meet the new standards for secure broadcast that fit within the MATCOM … dispatch frequency world,” the mayor said.
A roll-call vote was taken; the measure passed unanimously.
