The Village of Waukesha approved an accessory building permit for Tom Fenrick at West 270 South (1920 U.S. Highway 18) for a 60-by-86-foot (approximately 5,100 sq. ft.) building to store farm equipment and personal vehicles, with conditions addressing grading, erosion control and removal of a temporary shipping container.
Planner/engineering staff said the proposed building met the village’s size and location requirements but flagged a steep northeast corner where proposed fill would require grading details and erosion-control measures. Village engineer Greg asked for a conceptual grading plan to show how a roughly 6-foot drop at that corner would be corrected and how runoff would be controlled.
Petitioner Tom Fenrick said the plan is to add fill and taper the slope gradually over 50–60 feet to remove fall hazards; he told commissioners he wanted a gentle grade rather than retaining walls. Commissioners agreed that staff should receive a proposed grading sketch so the engineer can verify thresholds and disturbance limits before permits are issued.
Outcome: Both the Plan Commission and Village Board approved the accessory building subject to planner and engineer recommendations, including a proposed grading plan and erosion-control measures. The board also directed that the temporary shipping container on the property be removed in conjunction with construction (the board allowed a brief period after building completion for removal).
