Stacy Graham interviews for third term on Barry County Zoning Board of Appeals

Stacy Graham, introduced to the committee as an incumbent applicant for a third term on the Barry County Zoning Board of Appeals, described her local ties and zoning-board experience at the April 1 Committee of the Whole meeting. "My name is Stacy Graham. I'm a resident of Rutland Charter Township. It's hard to believe that I'm coming before you for a third term appointment on the ZBA," she said.

Graham said she has been affiliated with local boards and commissions since 2011 and has worked for Barry County–based businesses since 2003. She described the Zoning Board of Appeals role as resolving variance requests through listening and compromise: "Having a background in customer service and conflict resolution, it's really kind of fun to be able to get everybody's side of the story ... work for maybe not a resolution that the landowner totally wants, but a compromise that we could get to," she said.

Commissioners praised Graham’s service record and asked about continuing education; Graham said she completed Michigan State University's zoning-administration course last year and welcomed additional training. Several commissioners noted they would decide on appointments later in the agenda; no appointment vote was recorded in the committee discussion.
