City announces $5 million U.S. Treasury grant for Point Cadet Marina floating docks

Biloxi city staff reported at the April 8 council meeting that the U.S. Treasury Department has released a previously announced grant of $5,000,000 for phase 2 of the Point Cadet Marina floating docks.

City staff said the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) is the grantee and the City of Biloxi will be the subgrantee for the award, meaning additional administrative steps are required before construction begins.
City staff said they expect to begin work on the floating-dock project before the end of the summer, once the required packages and MDEQ processes are complete. The city engineer noted the mayor was meeting federal and state officials to discuss related infrastructure and pier funding during the mayor’s trip to Washington.
The council did not take separate action on the grant at the meeting; staff said grant subaward paperwork and procurement steps remain.
