Board certifies Ward 6 results; runoff set for April 15 with early-voting schedule

The Dougherty County Board of Registration and Elections certified the results of the March 18, 2025, Ward 6 election and election staff announced a runoff election for Tuesday, April 15, 2025.
In reporting the certification, election staff said total registered voters for the contest numbered 8,094; the staff reported “there were 10 ballots that were counted” and said “64 voters who cast their ballots at advanced voting.” The supervisor also said there were no provisional ballots cast for that contest.
Supervisor Miss Johnson told the board, “There will be a runoff election Tuesday, April 15 for Ward 6.” She listed polling locations that will be open for the runoff: West Town Elementary; Mount Zion Center; Alice Coachman; First Mount Olive; Shiloh; Littman; Bill Miller; and ASU East Lovett Hall. The logic-and-accuracy equipment test is scheduled for March 31 at 9 a.m.
Advanced voting for the April 15 runoff will take place in the Candy Room from April 7 through April 11, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Election staff said they are now accepting absentee-ballot applications for the April 15 runoff; they reiterated that the voter-registration deadline for that local election was Feb. 18.
Separately, under other business the board agreed to move its regular scheduled meeting and certification to Tuesday, April 22 to accommodate a state holiday and the certification timeline.
No provisional ballot counts or precinct-level vote tallies were provided in the transcript; the board approved the certification during the meeting. The board also confirmed that the April 15 runoff will use eight precincts.
All timings, locations and deadlines were announced by election staff during the supervisor’s report and will be advertised in the Albany Herald and on county social media.
