Douglas County approves conduit bond resolution for Creighton University

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved a resolution authorizing the county to act as conduit issuer for one or more series of industrial development revenue and refunding bonds on behalf of Creighton University.

Commissioner Cabello asked for clarification about the county—s financial exposure. "These are conduit issuance[s] that do not incur any of the faith or credit of Douglas County," Teresa of the County Attorney's Office said. "It will be an issuance of bonds, but it will not impact the [county—s] taxing authority or have any liability for Douglas County itself."

The resolution was approved as part of the board—s consent agenda. Commissioner Rogers moved to approve the consent agenda, Commissioner Morgan seconded, and the motion passed 7-0. Item G on the consent agenda had been stricken and was not considered.
