Residents organize bid to buy local mobile home park; trustees follow developments

Colin told trustees the group held a meeting with roughly 80 residents and that Thistle Rock — a national nonprofit member of a U.S. consortium that has completed multiple mobile-home-park resident-ownership transitions in Colorado — had discussed options for a community purchase. He said the park’s purchase price being discussed was approximately $18 million and that residents and partners were exploring financing and legal strategies.
Trustees discussed potential town involvement and said Carbondale staff and other valley municipalities have been coordinating on housing and potential support. The town manager reported two town employees currently live in mobile homes at a park in the area and said local jurisdictions were meeting with Thistle Rock and other housing organizations to identify viable responses.
There was no formal board action. Trustees agreed to monitor the situation and confirmed the town’s willingness to participate where appropriate and consistent with legal and fiscal constraints.
