The district's annual elementary art show is open at the Waukegan Public Library through April 30 and features more than 250 works created by students from all 15 elementary schools in the district. The district said two special receptions will be held; families should check invitations from their schools for assigned dates and times.
District 60's K–8 theater program, the Waukegan Performing Arts Company, will present Moana Jr. The production includes about 90 students from 10 elementary schools and five middle schools. Performances are scheduled for April 11 at 7 p.m. and April 12 at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. at Cook Magnet School on Belvedere Road. Tickets are $5; children under 2 are admitted free. The district said tickets can be purchased online or at the door.

The announcement said appointments are required and can be made online. To register, a child must turn 5 before Sept. 1. Families should bring an original birth certificate and two proofs of residency. An additional registration event is scheduled for April 26. The district also said returning student registration for the 2025-26 school year is ongoing.
The weekly update reminded families that the district will be closed Friday, April 18, in observance of Good Friday and that classes will resume Monday, April 21.
