An ECAT classroom assistant at Oona Elementary said she views kindergarten as the foundation of students' education and described her role as nurturing and formative.
In remarks recorded in the meeting transcript, the ECAT staff member said she assists the teacher with daily tasks and strives to be "very loving and nurturing" because "kindergarten is the foundation of their education." She said she has worked for Cabell County Schools for about 10 years and called her classroom team a "school family."
The staff member named two colleagues, Stephanie and Nees, and said the pair and she learn new methods each year to improve work for students and staff. She said her goal is to make children happy and to teach them both academics and how "to be a good human being." She added, "I love working for Cabell County Schools," and expressed hope that coworkers and students would remember her as "one of the sweetest and most caring teachers that they've had."
