The Rockingham County Board approved a bid waiver and an up-to-$24,000 short‑term service agreement with Northeast Mobile Dental Services PLLC to maintain dental services for county long‑term care residents while the county completes an open RFP process.
Staff explained the county's incumbent dentist retired and that few vendors specialize in providing dental services to nursing homes. The RFP process is underway but the county selected Northeast Mobile Dental to provide temporary coverage so the nursing home can remain in regulatory compliance while the RFP is finalized. The board approved a waiver request and the service agreement for no more than eight months and an amount not to exceed $24,000.
County staff noted the bid waiver and contract were intended to avoid gaps in required dental services; they reiterated an open RFP remains active and the short‑term agreement is a stopgap measure. Commissioners recorded yes votes on the waiver and the service agreement as presented.
