Planning staff told the commission on April 10 that Lynn’s Garden Cafe revised its building permit drawings to replace glass windows on the west wall with shutters so the wall meets a one-hour fire-rating requirement for structures within 10 feet of the property line.
Kayla (building/permit staff) said the building code requires a one-hour fire rating for any structure less than 10 feet from the property line; to meet that requirement the proposed glass openings were removed from the west wall and replaced with a shuttered opening. Staff characterized the change as an informational update to the commission so members would be aware when construction begins.
Kayla said there would be no glass in that opening and described the final design as a false window opening with shutters in the fire wall. The commission treated the item as a non-voting informational notice; no formal action was recorded.
