Committee members said they will sign a request supporting the federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program after receiving an email from a local manufacturing leader asking counties to join a letter urging Congress to maintain MEP funding.
Alan said he would forward the prewritten letter to the county’s legislative committee, and staff said they would circulate it to board members and make sure the legislative committee could process formal sign-on. Committee members described the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Alliance (IMEC) and related local MEP activities as important to manufacturers and said they would support the letter.
Separately, committee members announced a Hire Spartans job fair at Elgin Community College on April 29 from 9 a.m. to noon and encouraged businesses to register at elgin.edu. Staff noted growing ECC enrollment and the value of connecting students to local employers.
