Board approves routine motions: agenda, operations, finances and amended 2024‑25 calendar

At the special called meeting the Rockcastle County Board of Education approved a series of routine motions by voice vote.

The board approved operations and actions, a motion that included a resolution to pilot a five‑standard Kentucky School Administrators (KSA) superintendent effectiveness framework for the coming evaluation year. Board members discussed the pilot and noted the district would need to complete the superintendent evaluation in April or May next year so state pilot data could be returned in time for statewide implementation. No changes to the superintendent’s evaluation were otherwise described beyond the streamlined standard count.

The board approved the monthly financial reports for the month of March. Finance director Miss Jenny reported general‑fund March revenues of $2,345,145 and expenditures of $1,845,438; she reviewed cash balances and cautioned that some federal and state funding streams may be subject to cuts or changes, including programs supporting fresh fruit and vegetable grants and certain state payments for products within Infinite Campus that the district had anticipated would be paid by the state.

The board approved an amended 2024‑25 Rockcastle County school calendar. Board discussion outlined that the district follows a variable‑hours calendar (1,062 hours) rather than a fixed traditional day count and that the amended calendar accounts for converted professional development days, school closures for weather and provides a dismissed‑earlier end‑of‑year schedule.

All motions were approved by voice vote; board members present were recorded as voting in favor.
