Construction at RCMS advancing; board discusses after‑school supper under federal feeding program

Separately, the board discussed offering after‑school supper for students staying for extracurriculars. A staff member described the plan as participation in the federal Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), a reimbursement‑based feeding program separate from the National School Lunch Program. "We're just wanting to feed after school and that is the Child and Adult Care Food Program," the staff member said. Under the plan, the kitchen staff would prepare meals and be paid extra for working outside normal hours; schools would use a submitted schedule to estimate daily meal counts so kitchens can prepare the appropriate number of meals.
Board members asked about staffing, meal counts and funding; the staff member said kitchens would submit weekly expected counts so meal preparation could be scheduled and cited that staffing would be existing kitchen staff paid extra outside regular work hours.
No formal construction change orders or contract awards were reported in the meeting; the construction update and feeding program discussion were informational and part of ongoing operations.
