On the Finance and Salaries agenda, the payroll warrant of $1,619,100.25 was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The accounts-payable warrant in the amount of $2,126,322.18 was similarly approved; the chair listed the largest expenditures included $449,000 for trash and recycling pickup, $328,000 for the Duval Park project, $152,000 for student transportation, $143,000 for tuition at the May Institute, and $273,000 for electricity payments.
The Police and License Committee approved several license renewals by positive recommendation from the detective, including antique dealer renewals, secondhand article licenses, a temporary fixed vendor license and pawn broker and pawnbroker-related renewals; the committee also approved a fee waiver for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Taunton District, Inc. (Pennies from Heaven) for a secondhand article license.
The full council approved several reappointments: Joseph North and Charles Thayer to the Historic District Commission, James Dorsey to the Parking Commission, and Zena Shivers to the Airport Commission. All routine motions were recorded as passed by voice vote.
