Airport manager reports operations, new flight school tenancy and gate-card repair

The Taunton City Airport manager told the commission on March 26 that snow removal, stormwater sampling, infrastructure repairs and tenant activity continued through February and March.
Manager Craig said the airport cleared runways promptly during February snow events and completed annual fire-alarm testing on Feb. 25. He reported required water sampling for the stormwater pollution-prevention plan has been collected and sent to a lab, with results not yet received.
On March 20–21 New Era replaced the card reader and cable on vehicle gate 1, returning that gate to service; police and fire were informed, Craig said. "Now vehicle gate 1 is back in service," he said. Staff clarified this repair was for the vehicle gate card reader and not the fuel-farm card reader, which remains under separate work.
Operations and tenants: Craig said the new flight school Real Air Adventures began March 1, is operating part time and is renting space in the SRE building. "He's probably got four or five customers already," Craig said of the owner, whom staff expect to introduce at a future meeting. The airport sold 1,720 gallons of Avgas in February compared with 2,035 gallons the prior month.
Other items noted: a vehicle accident on March 18 damaged a street sign and a neighbor's stone wall but missed the new airport sign; DPW returned the sign to service the same day. A wetland survey off Caswell Street was in progress, and staff prepared new and renewed leases for tenants including a restaurant and a doctor’s lease and completed FAA Form 7460 filings for a proposed building location.
The commission voted to accept the coordinator's report and to table the financial report until the next meeting because of ongoing network issues affecting financial documents.
Ending: Staff said they will seek FAA approval for building plans and will update the commission on water-sampling results, wetland survey findings and tenant introductions when available.
