Board fills Region 4 EMS seat, sponsors reappointments and sets Cane Creek road hearing

Annie Stevens was nominated and the board voted to appoint her to the Region 4 EMS Council for the term indicated in the packet (term expiration noted as June 2028). The board also discussed Carolyn McKinley’s term on the West Central Georgia Broadband Joint Development Authority; staff had been unable to reach McKinley before the meeting, and the board moved to reappoint her contingent on her agreement to continue serving. Commissioners tabled the Pine Mountain Regional Library Board appointment until a later meeting after receiving a letter indicating the incumbent would not seek reappointment.
On a separate administrative item, staff requested the board set a public hearing for a road closure case (P25‑002) requested by Roger Lumsden to close a section of Cane Creek Road from Highway 85 to Cane Creek; after planning publication of the notice the board set the hearing for its May 6 regular meeting. Commissioners also authorized staff to draft a letter to the Georgia Department of Transportation requesting limited sight distance signage near 1188 Old Durand Highway and empowered the chair or vice chair to sign the letter after staff prepares it.
The board also reviewed an ACCG IRMA property and liability program update designating county staff contacts; the board approved participation pending legal review and signature authority consistent with legal guidance.
