Village updates residents: Wolf Road Phase 1 redesign to carry forward baseline sidewalk alternative

Village of Indian Head Park officials told trustees on April 10 that the Wolf Road Phase 1 redesign study will carry forward Alternative 1, the baseline-sidewalk option, as the preferred alternative.
The update said both the village and the Burr Ridge board of trustees have submitted letters of support; the supporting letters and study updates are posted at wolfroadstudy.com. Village officials said the RM Chinn study team and Strand Engineering updated the site with those documents on April 10.
"Alternative 1, Baseline Sidewalk, will be carried forward as the preferred alternative," the presenter said, adding the study team will refine the design to determine specific roadway footprint, drainage, structural, environmental and potential property impacts. The next steps include coordination with the Illinois Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, which the presenter said requires additional time for review. The study team anticipates holding a Corridor Advisory Committee meeting No. 3 and Public Meeting No. 3 — the study's final public involvement events — in early 2027.
Staff noted a revised timeline: the goal is to finish the Phase 1 study in summer 2027, later than an earlier estimate of 2026, because of additional review time with IDOT and FHWA. The study team indicated it will formally respond to public meeting 2 comments on April 30 and that a 30% roadway plan and profile, including typical sections, must be submitted to the county by June 15 for review.
The presentation emphasized coordination steps rather than final design decisions: the study team will present refined impacts to the Corridor Advisory Committee and the public when federal and state reviews are further along.
