Greencastle development would add trail connections to Highlands, Terrace and Cougar Mountain; staff, Newcastle Trails push for preserved access

Chair Nathan Sticks called the meeting to order and the commission heard a detailed briefing on the Greencastle development and proposed trail connections to nearby trail networks.

Brandon, parks and trails coordinator for the City of Newcastle, said the developer has proposed a planned unit development (PUD) on roughly 33 acres that would create clustered single‑family lots and several new trail connections. “The project scope is a planned unit development or PUD that entails 34 lots of single family subdivision, on approximately 33 acres,” Brandon said. He said the clustering is intended to preserve open space and reduce impacts to critical areas.
