Keith Haring mural returned to Horn; district reviews preservation, insurance and public access

The Iowa City Community School District operations committee inspected a Keith Haring mural reinstalled at Horn and discussed conservation steps, insurance valuation and possible public access during an operations meeting.

The committee was shown the mural, which the district loaned to a university museum and has now returned and reattached to a reconstructed wall at Horn. Deputy Chief of Management (name not specified) called the project “fantastic, and a long time coming,” and described work with museum staff, the Herring Foundation and a New York conservation firm to remove, move and reinstall the piece.
