Dalhart — City officials told the Dalhart City Council during its January 2025 meeting that the city has reinstated agreements with the Texas Department of Transportation to pursue drainage improvements at locations including U.S. Highway 385 and Nevada Street.
The presiding official said a meeting at the county courthouse with TxDOT staff and the district/area engineer resulted in reinstating several prior agreements, allowing the city to begin planning improvements. Officials said the planned work is intended to move standing water away from an area near storage units and improve drainage on the north side of town; they also said the city will explore additional assistance on U.S. Highway 87.
No formal council action on the TxDOT items was recorded; the update was presented as an informational report at the end of the meeting.
Other business and announcements
Council members announced that candidate packets for those wishing to file for city council will be available beginning Wednesday, with the filing deadline referenced on the agenda as February 14. Council members also noted that some members will attend the Texas Municipal League conference in Dumas and offered to coordinate carpooling.
The council adjourned after taking the previously reported votes on rezoning items and the grassland lease renewal.
