A council member introduced the new HR director as Elizabeth Villanreal Diaz, saying she most recently worked for the city of Port Arthur and had nearly 20 years in the human-resources department, including five years as assistant HR director. The person who came to the podium introduced herself as Melissa Diaz, said she resides in Port Arthur, that her parents live in Groves, and described roughly 29 years of municipal service in Port Arthur including work in human resources and municipal court.
Council members welcomed the new director. The presentation was brief and ceremonial; no formal action was required.
