The Highland Village City Council authorized a contract with AIMS Companies to perform condition assessment work on the city’s 24‑inch and 27‑inch sanitary sewer trunk mains on Feb. 11.
City staff said the trunk mains run along the north side of the city, cross private properties and federal land, and have access constraints that limited competitive bidding during the fall/winter procurement period. The work authorized is an inspection project — cleaning and televising the trunk mains — to determine the extent of manhole repairs, erosion remediation or pipe replacement needed. Staff said the AIMS quote was within the previously allocated budget and that the company is available through a cooperative purchasing contract with the Houston‑Galveston Area Council (H‑GAC).
Council approved the contract (via cooperative purchasing) and staff said the condition assessment would likely be followed by a construction project to address localized erosion, manhole replacement or specific pipe segments; it would not be a complete trunk‑line replacement. The motion to award the contract carried unanimously (6–0).
