The Danville School District 118 Board of Education on Monday approved a series of contracts and purchases covering special education services, staff development, school supplies and technology refresh.
Special education: The board approved a cooperative agreement to secure audiology services for the district for the school year. Molly Bailey, director of special education, said the district will pay approximately $22,000 from IDEA funds to contract audiology services at a rate the provider set because the provider was unable to hire a full‑time audiologist.
Culture and climate: Trustees approved a contract with Jimmy Casas and Associates for school‑culture coaching and building-level support at a cost to the district of $62,000, funded from Title II. The services include on-site coaching, principal coaching and a culture assessment of four buildings.
School supplies: The board approved purchasing 3,558 school-supply kits and backpacks for kindergarten through 12th grade at a total cost of $174,765, to be paid from Title I funds; staff said backpacks and kits will be shipped to buildings for the 2025–26 school year and that Danville High School will use leftover supplies from prior purchases.
Technology refresh: The district presented a summer technology refresh plan proposing replacement of about 800 Chromebooks (with larger 14-inch devices focused at Northridge), 75 laptops and 44 desktops. Staff presented a total cost of approximately $847,000 (including leasing and warranty). Staff said Title funding would cover about $644,595.84 and that the remainder would be covered by local funds (figures as presented in the meeting transcript). The board did not record a final vote on the technology item during the portion of the transcript provided.
Why it matters: These contracts reflect the district's near-term operational priorities: special education supports, professional development aimed at improving school climate, ensuring students have supplies, and renewing classroom devices.
