On mobile food vendors, council directed staff and the city attorney to prepare an ordinance that would open mobile food vending beyond the municipal park to other commercial locations that meet requirements for potable water, restrooms, parking and public-safety access. Council discussed the possibility of allowing multi-truck "food parks" at privately owned sites and named two potential locations described to council (behind a haircut business and a site near HEB with a pond). Staff noted some city-owned park sites lack permanent electrical or sewer hookups, requiring trucks to bring generators and remove waste daily; provisions for utilities, parking and public-safety conditions will be included in the draft.
Council also considered a schedule change because at least two council members and the city attorney reported recurring conflicts with Tuesday meetings. After discussion, council voted to move regular meetings to Thursdays for the interim and instructed staff to return with a resolution to change dates back when appropriate. All three items were approved by motion and voice vote.
Staff said the ordinance language will be prepared by the city attorney and returned to council for formal adoption; the drive-through contractor will begin work imminently, and staff will monitor use of CO funds for the project.
