Palmview honors 8U and 14U All-Star baseball teams for World Series appearance

The Palmview City Council honored its 8-and-under and 14-and-under baseball all-star teams on Tuesday, presenting certificates and public recognition after the 8U squad reached the World Series in Youngsville, Louisiana.

The recognition highlights community pride in youth athletics and municipal support for park and field improvements.

Parks staff and coaches described the teams’ summer tournament run: several local invitationals and sectionals were undefeated, the 8U team placed in the region and advanced to a 24-team World Series field where it finished among the top four, winning five games and losing two. Parks Director Robert Lugo and mayoral staff asked the council to present awards and thanked coaches, parents and grounds crews for maintaining the fields. Mayor Ricardo Villareal and council members praised players for hard work and urged continued focus on school performance and community support.

Coaches and team members named during the recognition included head coach Renato Rodriguez, assistant coach Ramiro Surita, and players Daniel Ocampos, Mateo Garcia, Renato Rodriguez Jr., Kareem Ramirez, Ivan Vialt, Lucas Rubio, Naysian Suarez, Sebastian Perez, Santiago Garza, Rojedo Rios and Ramiro Surita (player listing as read at the meeting). Council members said they hope to improve park facilities and install a mural commemorating teams that reach regional and national tournaments.

No formal council action or budget appropriation was taken during the recognition; staff noted that capital improvements to parks are ongoing and that officials will continue to coordinate upgrades with the parks department.
