Commission schedules proclamations for public-safety telecommunicators, community college month, child abuse prevention and assault awareness

The Houston County Commission placed four proclamations on its awards and presentations agenda, scheduling presentations from local organizations and assigning commissioners to present the items.

The commission agreed to place on the agenda a proclamation recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. The body also placed a proclamation for Community College Month; Dr. Ashley Wilkins, vice president of Wallace Community College, was identified as the scheduled presenter. Commissioners placed a proclamation for Child Abuse Prevention Month and noted Terry Debose, executive director of the Southeast Child Advocacy Center, would be present. The fourth proclamation, for assault awareness month, named Angela Underwood, executive director of House of Ruth, as the expected presenter. Commissioners discussed who would present each proclamation; one commissioner volunteered to present item 4 after another agreed to take the earlier item.
