The Williamsport City Council voted April 10 to adopt an ordinance amending the city’s general fee schedule, including new fees for bulk brush piles based on acreage and clarifying table wording consistent with definitions in the ordinance.
City planning and public works staff described the change for brush‑pile fees: anything less than 5 acres will be charged $250, and fees increase in $250 increments per 5‑acre band up to a $1,000 fee for over 20 acres. Staff said definitions for brush and the applicability to commercial property owners were added and reviewed by the city solicitor.
City solicitor Austin identified inconsistent wording in the draft table and requested an amendment to replace multiple entries that read “commercial properties” with “commercial property owner” to match the definition under paragraph 5 below the table. Council adopted the motion to amend the table and then adopted the ordinance. Councilmembers said the revisions clarified administration of the fee schedule and removed ambiguous language before codification.
