Mobile County District Attorney’s office announces victims’ vigil and resource fair for National Crime Victims' Rights Week

Jennifer Sussman, Chief Assistant District Attorney in the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, told the Mobile County Commission on April 10 that the office will hold a National Crime Victims’ Remembrance Vigil and Resource Fair the same evening in the atrium of the government plaza.
“We strongly, we strongly believe that all of our victims need to be treated with respect and we want them to know that we're here to support them through this process,” Sussman said. She identified Leah Duvall as the head of the office’s victim service officers and asked the public to support the event.
The DA’s office invited people who have lost a loved one to bring a photograph to place on the remembrance board and said those who wish may come up and say the name of their loved one. “Victim services officers and community agencies also are available with resources,” Sussman said.
The event was described as open to the public and scheduled for 6 p.m. in the atrium of Mobile Government Plaza on April 10. Sussman spoke on behalf of District Attorney Keith Blackwood and thanked the commission for the opportunity to announce the observance.
Commission representation: a commissioner stated at the meeting that she would attend and speak at the vigil on behalf of the commission.
No formal county action was recorded in the conference discussion beyond allowing the DA’s office time to make the announcement.
