Council votes to advance multiple ordinances, moves next meeting date

The Saint Bernard Village Council on Thursday voted unanimously to advance several ordinances and a resolution for formal consideration at its next meeting and approved moving the February council meeting to an earlier date.
Council voted to place Ordinance No. 4 (transfer and appropriation including $339,000 into master plan 10A for demolition) and Resolution No. 2 (to place a 7-mill operating levy on the August ballot) on the table after a motion by Council member Sholtemire and a second by Council member Morton; the motion passed with all present voting "aye." Later, a motion by Council member Morton, seconded by Council member Culbertson, placed Ordinance Nos. 3 and 5 on the table; that motion also passed unanimously.
Council also approved a motion by Council member Sholtemeyer, seconded by Council member Estep, to move the February council meeting from February 27 to February 20 at 7 p.m. Several council members noted scheduling conflicts and asked that absences be excused where appropriate under the attendance ordinance passed last year.
None of the motions that evening enacted final policy; each vote was a procedural step to bring ordinances and resolutions forward for readings and possible final votes at a subsequent meeting. The town clerk and department heads said corrected ordinance drafts and supporting details will be circulated before the next council meeting.
