The Salina City Commission voted unanimously on March 10 to call a special meeting for Wednesday, March 12, at 2:30 p.m. Central to interview the four finalist firms for the city manager search. The motion passed 5-0.
Natalie Fisher, head of Human Resources, summarized the proposed format: 30-minute slots with a brief firm overview not to exceed 10 minutes followed by commissioners’ questions. Fisher said the firms will appear virtually via Zoom and that she requested the individual who would conduct the search for Salina attend the interview; firms may include one additional staff member.
Commissioners agreed that a set of uniform questions would be useful so each firm receives the same initial queries; several commissioners said they wanted Fisher to compile core questions but that commissioners might add follow-ups during interviews. Fisher confirmed she would coordinate logistics and public notice for the special meeting, which will be held in open session and is the only item on that special meeting’s agenda.
Firms named by staff as finalists were Baker Tilly, Government Pros (GPS), Raftelis, and Strategic Government Resources (SGR). After the interviews conclude, the commission expects to deliberate in the open meeting and select a firm to advance to contract negotiations.
The commission’s action formalizes the interview schedule and directs staff to notify the finalists and manage interview logistics.
