Pecos Chamber board seeks national search, proposes joint workshop after director resignation

Pecos Chamber representatives told the Pecos City Council on April 10 that the chamber’s board is united in wanting to keep the organization operating, launch a national search for a new executive director and hold public meetings so local stakeholders can shape priorities.

The chamber’s representative, Matt Elliott, said the board met recently and is “on the same page” about continuing operations and starting a six- to nine-month national search for an executive director, with local input and a town-hall style outreach process. He said the board also discussed interim options to maintain services while recruiting a director.

Why it matters: the chamber handles community events and business outreach that the council and residents said drive local tourism and sales. Council members pressed the chamber to clarify governance, fill key vacancies and provide regular financial reports so the city can evaluate continued funding.
