Salina City Commission approves airport easement vacation, bond authorizations and budget items; CVB funding and two interlocal agreements pass

The Salina City Commission on Feb. 24 unanimously approved a set of routine and capital‑planning measures, including vacating a utility easement to allow a terminal expansion at Salina Municipal Airport and adopting resolutions authorizing the city to issue debt for several 2025 capital projects.

In a public hearing, the commission approved Ordinance No. 25‑11234, vacating a 20‑foot public utility easement on the airport terminal property to accommodate a planned terminal expansion. City staff said the water line that originally required the easement was relocated and that utility providers had no objections. The ordinance passed on a roll‑call vote, 5‑0.

The commission also adopted three resolutions authorizing the city to use general‑obligation financing for several projects planned for 2025. Finance director Debbie Peck said the action "does not obligate the city to the projects;" it only provides the option to finance the work if bids and awards follow.
