Gig Harbor Civil Service Commission certifies lateral hiring list after oral boards

Gig Harbor Civil Service Commission members voted March 6 to certify a lateral hiring list after two days of oral board interviews held Feb. 10 and Feb. 24.

The certification followed a staff summary of oral board results. "We had two days of oral boards, on February 10 and February 24," Alyssa, a staff member, said. "On February 10, we had seven candidates scheduled: one withdrew, one rescheduled to the 24th, one canceled, and we ended up with four passing. On the 24th, three were scheduled, one no‑show, and two did not pass. We have a total of four candidates on the list."

The commission accepted the minutes of its Feb. 6 meeting and then moved to certify the lateral hiring list. "We're excited about this — we feel like we have some good candidates and upon certification, we are ready to go off and run them to do background outreach," Chairman McCrae said during the meeting. Commissioners voted by voice on the motions; the meeting record shows the motions passed.

The certification places the four candidates on the commission's eligible list so the department can proceed with whatever next steps they described during the meeting, including background checks and outreach.
