Salina HRC schedules April 25 Fair Housing seminar at OCCK training facility

The Salina Human Relations Commission announced Feb. 11 that its 2025 Fair Housing seminar will be held April 25 at OCCK's new training room off Schilling, with set-up scheduled for April 24.
The seminar, traditionally held on the last Friday in April, will proceed without HUD funding this year. Staff said the facility's layout means there will be no breakout sessions; however, five speakers have been confirmed and the commission expects to offer continuing-education credit through three entities.
Staff said OCCK volunteered to host and is providing the training room as a sponsor, reducing costs tied to travel and facility rental. "We are proceeding April 25," a staff member said during the Feb. 11 meeting. Staff also said they will circulate a sign-up system for commissioners and members of the Accessibility Advisory Board to staff informational booths in shifts during the seminar so volunteers need not be present the entire day.
Planning will continue: staff said they will meet with speakers to collect required information for continuing-education hour calculations and that two more planning meetings are scheduled before the event. Additional registration and agenda details will be released in the coming weeks.
