Valley Stream swears in Sharon M. Daley; board adopts appointments, contracts in reorganization meeting

Mayor Edwin A. Fair swore in Sharon M. Daley as a trustee at the Village of Valley Stream’s reorganization meeting and the board approved a series of mayoral appointments, administrative resolutions and contract items by unanimous roll call.

The reorganization meeting included the formal oath for Daley after an election the mayor described as resulting in a 10-to-1 vote in her favor. Following her swearing-in, Daley addressed the meeting: “Thank you, everybody. I appreciate your great support, and it's my privilege to serve the residents of Valley Stream.”

Why it matters: Reorganization meetings set the village’s leadership roles, committee liaisons and legal and administrative vendors for the coming municipal year. The board’s approvals establish who will serve on advisory bodies, which law firms will represent the village and which firms will provide auditing and merchant services.

The board moved through a consent-style calendar of mayoral appointments and routine resolutions.
