Police report: bar disturbances limited; staff to pursue server-training compliance

Fargo Police Department representatives reported a small set of disturbances at liquor establishments and told the Liquor Control Board that establishment management cooperated with officers during the incidents.

"We had — — disturbances, fights — management of the establishments were very cooperative," Lieutenant Travis Motor said while summarizing recent incident reports. Motor, filling in for the chief, said two establishments had incidents involving fights inside or outside, and management cooperated with police during response and follow-up.

On compliance, board staff reported progress on server-training audits and said a subset of licensees needs follow-up. Steve said the auditing firm provided a list and his preliminary review showed about a dozen of roughly 70 licensed establishments required further review; some did not respond to initial requests. "I've got about a dozen or so, maybe 15 out of the 70 that need some review work," Steve said. Staff plans to send reminders and pursue compliance checks; new accountability measures place monitoring responsibility on licensees.

Board members noted management cooperation in incidents and encouraged staff to continue outreach and enforcement where necessary. No formal enforcement actions were taken at the meeting; staff will proceed with audits and reminders and report back to the board.
