Town of Babylon ZBA approves several small variances, adopts negative declaration for auto‑repair site; reserves decision on multiple renovation hearings

The Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals handled a series of residential and commercial applications Tuesday, approving several variances, adopting a negative declaration for an auto‑repair use, renewing a public‑garage permit and reserving decision on other matters pending additional information.

Among the approvals, the board voted to approve application 25033 for Eric Schutz and Laurie Worcester in Deer Park to legalize an existing shed that sits too close to a property line, subject to a condition on the decision that if the shed must be removed because of disrepair it be re‑installed in a legal location. The applicant said the shed predates his ownership and that he was legalizing a finished basement; the board attached the condition and approved the application.

Application 25034, a permit for John and Cynthia Young in West Babylon to install an in‑ground pool and replace patio pavers, was approved with the condition that patio pavers maintain conforming setbacks from all property lines.
