The Edmonds City Council unanimously approved a purchase‑and‑sale agreement on March 11 to sell five recently purchased police vehicles to the City of Marysville.
Phil Williams, acting public works and utilities director, said the vehicles have very low mileage—"they've had one oil change"—and were surplus to Edmonds' needs following police department changes and budget considerations. Williams said Marysville preferred a purchase‑and‑sale agreement rather than an interlocal agreement and that the document lists vehicle identification and serial numbers.
Council President Tibbitt moved to approve the purchase and sale agreement and the motion passed unanimously. Williams said the agreed price is $82,000 per vehicle for a total of $410,000; he said purchase price when acquired was about $85,000 per vehicle and the fleet manager negotiated the $82,000 figure because the cars are slightly used.
The council conducted the public hearing required by state law for direct sale of surplus equipment valued over $50,000, heard no public testimony, and then approved the agreement.
