Henry County Commissioners recorded several routine approvals and awarded or authorized contracts at their April 9 meeting.
Minutes, claims and payroll: The board approved the previous meeting minutes, county claims and payroll in separate motions; each vote carried 3-0.
Pavement bid: Following a public bid opening, the county accepted the apparent low bid from Pavement Solutions (base bid reported in the bid packet as $1,688,889.16). A motion to accept the bid carried 3-0. The Board of Works’ engineer will complete a post-bid review and finalize contract documents as required.
Sign project time extension: Commissioners approved a change order extending the schedule on a county sign project by 39 days to account for a delay in issuing a notice to proceed; no additional funds were requested. County staff stated part of the delay was the contractor’s responsibility.
Bridge design contracts: The board approved engineering and inspection contracts to begin design and bidding for two bridge replacements submitted for possible Community Crossings funding. Janssen & Spahn were approved for design and inspection services for Bridge 242 (Old U.S. 40 east of Knightstown) for $230,265, and USI Consultants were approved for Bridge 178 (Spice and Pike area) for $227,600. Both votes were 3-0.
All motions recorded during the meeting carried by unanimous voice vote of the three commissioners in attendance.
