Punta Gorda canal projects: lock widening near completion; seawall, dredging work ongoing

The board was told the BSI inlet widening and lock work are advancing ahead of schedule, with contractors placing concrete matting and pilings. Mark Storm, canal maintenance supervisor for the public works department, said the contractor had placed matting and was setting five pilings at the lock area "center and on the ends and just inside a little bit," describing distances of about 10 to 15 feet for piling placements.
