Appling County commissioners voted to approve a resolution authorizing participation in the ACCG Interlocal Risk Management Agency supplemental medical accident and disability fund for a first-responder PTSD program. Commissioners also designated a county representative for the program and selected the lower coverage limit on the form as presented.
Staff told the commission this participation stems from a state mandate referenced in the meeting as HB 481 and that the program had no dedicated state funding attached, saying the mandate was placed "with no funds." A staff speaker also provided a cost estimate for the county of approximately $30,192 per year for the coverage as presented.
During the discussion, commissioners noted the resolution form contained blanks (the coverage limit and designated county representative). Commissioners agreed the resolution had to be cleaned up before final execution. The board then designated "Robin" (name on the record) as the county's representative for the ACCG program and confirmed choosing the lower limit available on the form. Commissioners noted the county's HR/benefits administrator is retiring and that the designated representative could be changed later.
A motion to approve the resolution and participate in the ACCG first-responder PTSD program carried; the transcript records the motion and a second and shows the vote passed, though no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting minutes provided.
Staff was directed to return with the completed resolution (filled limits and designee) and any required documentation for the county's records.
