Norwalk Shellfish Commission reports balance and permit-sale records; counts to be verified

Treasurer Bill reported at the April 3 meeting that the Shellfish Commission’s balance was $29,292 as of Feb. 28. He said the commission incurred a $537 expense on March 7 to print shellfish permits and two smaller postings on March 3—$35 and $70—bringing a reported total of $642 in recent expenditures and an updated balance of $28,650.
Bill also gave initial permit-counts: 50 nonresident permits, 71 resident permits and 67 Norwalk senior permits, but said he believed those figures might be low and would follow up. Commissioners asked staff to verify the counts by reviewing the permit booklets or providing a compiled tally before the next meeting.
The commission accepted committee reports as presented by motion; minutes show the acceptance passed with no recorded opposition. The treasurer said he will provide a confirmed tally of permit sales and work with staff (Miss Dixon) on renewing outstanding permit requests early next week.
No formal budget amendments or new spending were proposed at the April 3 meeting.
