The Board of Estimate and Taxation on April 7 approved a contract extension with the city’s current auditor, CLA, following a public bidding process that returned two proposals.
Finance staff reported CLA provided strong service and timely audited financial statements; the department said the new contract’s first-year fee will be $120,000 (up from about $103,000 in the final year of the previous contract), with subsequent annual increases capped at 3%. Staff noted the market for municipal auditors is limited and that some municipalities face multi-year audit backlogs; the board approved the auditor contract.
Board members asked about comparative bidders and prices; staff confirmed the other bidder was the firm that performed audits for Fairfield when staff there used it. The board approved CLA as the city auditor on a voice vote.
