Selectboard members and staff debated options: keep the 6-ton posting and enforce exceptions case by case; raise the posted limit (10 or 12 tons was discussed) to cover medium-duty delivery vehicles and reduce repeated exception requests; or remove posting entirely as some neighboring towns have done. Participants noted tradeoffs: lower limits protect road surfaces, while higher limits reduce enforcement friction and ensure businesses receive supplies. The board agreed to discuss the question further before finalizing any change and to consult other towns’ practices ahead of next year’s postings.
Ending Board members asked staff to collect comparative posting policies from nearby towns and to return with a recommendation and proposed sign wording in advance of next winter’s posting cycle.
