City engineers, the building commissioner and the service director updated Richmond Heights City Council on April 8 about several ongoing infrastructure projects, a permit-software rollout and seasonal maintenance programs.
City Engineer Justin Hazleton said Cleveland Water will finish asphalt restoration and tree-lawn repairs for a 48‑inch main project on April 22; the Trubisky project limits and a relining project (Highland to Monticello) have pre-construction meetings scheduled and the engineer said contractors will be asked to minimize traffic impacts. The Wilson Mills resurfacing project (contractor Katz Construction) is scheduled as a roughly three-month project starting next week with completion expected before July 4; Enbridge Gas agreed to delay overlapping work where possible to reduce rework.
Hazleton said the Harris Road drainage project will be advertised in the coming weeks with bids opened later in April. Service Director Ryan Teben reported crews are repairing plow damage, continuing road patching and preparing for grass cutting; he said the Georgetown sign installation is complete and electrical work for the Richmond Park sign is expected within the next week.
Building Commissioner Rudy Hilliard reported that the department is processing complaints and preparing an ISO building-code effectiveness report. He said a new department permitting software has an internal projected go-live of May 1 and that online permit submission for contractors will begin June 1, with later rollout for residents to submit permits online.
Hilliard said inspectors have begun site visits related to recent complaints and that the department will provide online contractor access in June.
Ending
Staff invited questions and said they will bring further scheduling and bid information to council as projects proceed.
