The Richmond Heights City Council and city staff on April 8 held a brief swearing-in ceremony to formally welcome Rocky, the police department’s new comfort and community-engagement K‑9.
“ I, Sergeant Greg Patterson, do solemnly affirm… that I and Rocky… will support the Constitution of the United States,” Sergeant Greg Patterson said during the oath. Patterson participated in the ceremony alongside the mayor and department staff.
Rocky was introduced as a community engagement/comfort K‑9 and therapy dog who will participate in public events and department outreach. The ceremony included family members and a short public moment in chambers; Councilmembers and city staff praised the dog’s role in community outreach.
