Board issues notice of intent to establish Penrose County Road

Sheridan County commissioners voted on Jan. 21 to adopt a resolution (25-01-002) issuing notice of intent to establish Penrose County Road as a county road and to begin the statutory process for objections and claims for damages.
County Engineer Ken Mueller, appointed as viewer for the proposed county road, told the board he reviewed records and found the route has been used by the public for a long time and in county files is shown as maintained since at least 1981. Mueller recommended issuing the notice of intent so the county can solicit objections and claims for damages as required by law.
Commissioner Jennings moved to adopt the resolution and authorized the chairman to sign; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The resolution directs the county to follow the statutory notice process to determine whether the road should be formally established as a county road.
