Sheridan County Sheriff Levi Dominguez updated commissioners that Red Grama Road is not expected to be safely passable on April 1.
Dominguez said Road and Bridge and contractor crews have inspected the route and that most cabin owners and residents he has spoken with agree opening the road immediately would be premature. He said the county has placed signage indicating the road is closed to wheeled traffic and for tracked vehicles only, and deputies will monitor the area to deter motorists who attempt to access the road before conditions are safe.
Dominguez said county crews will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and plan to clear the route to a safe turnaround point before allowing broader access.
