Airport manager seeks approvals for maintenance agreements, self-fueling rules and construction fees

Robert Gill, Sheridan County Airport Manager, told county commissioners the airport will present several items for consideration at the next meeting, including a maintenance services agreement with Gardner Lowe Aviation Services and a lessor's consent related to a sublease.

Gill said he has prepared self-fueling rules and regulations for aircraft operators and plans to present them after more than 45 days of notice to airport users and the fixed-base operator. He also reported that an independent fee estimate for construction closeout on the Alpha realignment project showed engineering fees of about $920,000; the consultant Morris & Morrily (as reported) came in roughly 8% below initial estimates in fee negotiations.

Gill said the Transportation Security Administration has installed an Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) full-body scanner at the terminal, and the airport's mid-morning flight schedule will shift to early afternoon starting the next day, which Gill said should improve load factors. He also reported he received two proposals to operate the airport-owned self-service Avgas station and, after user feedback, selected Sheridan Pilots 307 as the preferred operator and expects to bring an operator agreement to the commission for approval.

Gill invited commissioners to view recently installed terminal artwork and said he is pursuing a coffee vending option for the waiting room. He also noted ongoing maintenance and a plan to address drainage and a valve system with the Colorado Colony Ditch stakeholders.

Gill said he will bring the maintenance agreement and the operator agreement forward for formal action at an upcoming meeting.
